Sulphadimidine sodium is a chemotherapeutic with bacteriostatic action against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and against certain protozoa like Eimeria and Isospora spp.


Sulphadimidine sodium is indicated for gastrointestinal, respiratory and urogenital infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to sulphadimidine, like E. coli, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Pasteurella spp. in foals, cattle, calves, pigs, sheep, goats and poultry and Coccidiosis caused by Eimera spp. in poultry.


Do not administer to animals hypersensitive to sulphonamides, or to animals with a severe impaired liver or kidney function. Do not use in layers producing eggs for human consumption or in animals in lactation if milk is intended for human consumption.


Digestion disturbances, diarrhoea, suppression of immune system, infertility in males, degeneration of peripheral nerves, bleedings.

Dosage and administration

For oral administration via feed or drinking water.
Cattle, calves : 5 - 10 g per 100 kg bodyweight daily, during 3 - 5 days.
Sheep, goats : 0.5 - 1 g per 10 kg bodyweight daily, during 3 - 5 days.
Foals : 0.15 - 0.30 g per 10 kg bodyweight daily, during 3 - 5 days.
Pigs : 200 g per 1,000 kg of feed during 2 - 10 weeks, and 400 g per 1,000 kg of feed during 2 - 10
weeks for pigs with acute infections (for treatment of atrophic rhinitis, pneumonia).
Poultry : The general dose is 100 g per 200 litres of drinking water during 3 days, or according to the 3-2-3
scheme: 3 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on.
Mixed with feed the product should be used immediately. Medicated drinking water should be used within 24 hours.

Withdrawal period

Meat: Pigs, ruminants : 21 days
Poultry : 10 days
